# Week 6: JavaScript in the Real World, Asynchronous JavaScript, and APIs

Hello friends!

Last week was very productive for me, I learned about a few more practical applications of JavaScript (JS) and tools that are widely used in the industry. I'm currently learning about Asynchronous JS and event loops which sounds intimidating ngl.

### Here are the things that I've learned!

- **Linting**, a tool that automatically cleans up code from syntax errors.
- **Prettier**. It's similar to linting, but instead, it makes code prettier by reinforcing coding standards like semicolons, double quotes, line spacing, and much more.
- **Dynamic User Interface Interactions**. These refer to things like dropdown menus and animation in general. Something I should probably go back to and read up a little bit more about.
- **Forms**. I've been using forms for a lot of my projects now but I didn't really know what I was doing. I made workarounds to things that actually only take one word to make functional. I'm glad that I finally got a proper lesson on it.
- **JSON**. I'm honestly surprised at how simple JSON was, I thought it was a whole new language with different concepts but It's just JS in string format.

### Improvements I'm planning

From now on, I want to set a deadline for my projects. The time I spend on each project is a bit too much for my liking. I think it's fine to compromise the quality a bit because I can just work on improving it further if I want to use it as a portfolio. Plus, I think it will show me my mistakes in making my code readable.

I also plan to make at least 1 GitHub contribution a day as it builds a strong profile and shows commitment. That's what my favorite Youtuber [Fireship](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg9ihH15Uto&ab_channel=Fireship) says at least.
